2001 Chrysler LHS Air Bag Control Module Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace the Air Bag Control Module in a Six-Passenger on 2001 Chrysler LHS?
A: Unlock the hood of your six-seater, then unscrew the negative battery cable from its remote post. To use the glove box, open its door, press on the side tabs and open the door down. For work on a Concorde, you should remove the Instrument Panel before starting. Pull the left endcap at the junction block, then unscrew two bolts from the steering column cover and remove it by pulling toward the rear of your car. Remove the door to the glove box and move it down far enough to find the bits you need by the corner screws. Take off the center bezel of the instrument panel, as doing so will also unfasten the temperature control, the power outlet and the traction control button. Remove the connectors in the center bezel, then take off four screws from the Chin bezel, two on each side of the vehicle. Undo one screw and open up the bracket with a push fastener to pull out the floor bin. Since the ORC has been exposed, slide the CPA tab out, press the locking latch and take out the ORC 23-way connector. Remove the two side screws next to the door panel on the driver's side and back the top screw on that side. Raise the module and extract the ORC; if you can't get it out, release the passenger side screw further. Get the ORC out of the vehicle. Install the ORC by pointing the arrow on it frontwards into the mounting bracket's hole, with the bosses in their correct position. Screw on the three provided screws to the ORC and the bracket until the torque is in the range of 88 to 124 in. lbs. (10 to 14 Nm). Tighten the screw at the top position on the driver's side, fit the two side module mounting screws and connect the ORC 23-way connector, sliding the red CPA tab in. Install the Instrument Panel before working on the Concorde air bag system. Set the one push fastener first, then place and screw the remaining four screws into the Chin bezel. Connect the wires at the center bezel, fit the center instrument panel bezel and insert the screws on the left sides of the glove box bin before the glove box door is closed. After that, fit the two screws to the steering column cover and the left end cover at where they meet at the junction block. The battery negative cable should not be linked to the remote terminal of the air bag system before it is all set and has passed tests.
