2001 Chrysler LHS Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on 2001 Chrysler LHS?
A: Lower the fuel rail pressure to service it and remember to carry out the job outside, away from anything that could cause sparks or heat. Take out the bolts holding the intake manifold plenum to the engine and lift it off and put a cover on the intake manifold as you don't want dirt inside. Unplug the fuel supply tube connecting pipe from the rear of the fuel rail. If the injector connectors cannot be recognized by their labels, write on them the cylinder number to indicate their position. Take out the mounting bolts from the two sides of the fuel rail and carefully lift the rail straight off the cylinder head. Withdraw the retaining clips from the fuel injectors and pull them out of the fuel rail. For installing the injectors, moisten their O-rings gently with clean engine oil and then add their retaining clips before pushing them home in the fuel rail. Place the fuel rail above the cylinder heads and make sure it is held tightly, then tighten the bolts to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.) torque. Couple the fuel supply tube quick connect fitting to the fuel rail, then cable the fuel injectors to the electrical harness. Afterward, put the intake manifold plenum back in place and link the negative battery cable again.
