2001 Chrysler LHS Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Oil Pan on 2001 Chrysler LHS?
A: When servicing or repairing the oil pan, take out the negative cable from the remote jumper terminal first and then take out both the dipstick and the tube. Place the vehicle on a hoist and take out the used oil. Untwist the structural collar at the back of the oil pan and transmission housing, disconnect the line from the engine oil cooler at the pan and disconnect the transmission oil cooler line clips before you take out the oil pan and gasket. Clean the inside of the oil pan and the surface of all gaskets. Before installing, put on a 1/8 inch bead of Mopar Engine RTV GEN II around the edge where the oil pump housing meets the rear seal retainer and put the oil pan gasket on the engine block. Place the pan onto the engine, fit the fasteners, attach the structural collar and be sure to fit and pre-torque the vertical collar to 1.1 Nm (10 in. lbs.), then attach the horizontal collar and torque it to 55 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). Turn all the bolts so the center vertical bolts reach 55 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) and proceed outward. Put the car on the ground, put back the dipstick and tube, oil the engine crankcase to the right level and hook up the negative cable.
