2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Speed Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Input Speed Sensor on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: The first thing to do is remove the battery cables from the car before handling the input speed sensor. Afterward, you need to take out the air cleaner assembly, then unbolt the battery hold down clamp and get rid of the battery. Then, pull out the battery tray and cut off the connection to the input speed sensor. Take out the input speed sensor and look at the O-ring; if it's bad, change it. During installation, the O-ring must be in position and you should tighten the input speed sensor to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Fix the speed sensor wires back into place, insert the battery as before and then reinstall the hold down clamp. Reinstall the air cleaner and then connect both ends of the battery cables.
