You should always start by unplugging the battery cables to service the transmission speed sensor. After that, unscrew the air cleaner assembly, take out the battery hold down clamp and remove the battery. After removing the battery, open the circular battery tray and disconnect the output speed sensor. Pull out the output speed sensor, inspect the O-ring and put in a new one if it seems damaged. Before installing and tightening the output speed sensor to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.), confirm the O-ring fits correctly into its place. Connect the speed sensor connector next, then secure the battery tray, the battery, its hold down clamp and the air cleaner.
