  A: Before servicing the thermostat, remove the upper intake manifold and drain the cooling system at the bottom of the thermostat. After that, separate the upper radiator hose and the coolant recovery system hose from the outlet connector and remove the bolts that hold the thermostat/coolant outlet. When you remove the thermostat assembly, be sure to clean the sealing parts. For installation, insert the new thermostat assembly into the location for the coolant outlet connector and make sure the air bleed is in line with the notch found there. Unscrew the bolts to the correct length on the housing and then tighten them so they reach a torque of 12.5 Nm (110 inch lbs.). Once the upper radiator hose is in place, connect the coolant recovery system hose and then put in the upper intake manifold. After that, fill the cooling system.
