2001 Chrysler Sebring Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Harmonic Balancer and Crankshaft Pulley on 2001 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Before you start with the harmonic balancer and crankshaft pulley, cut the negative battery cable. Place a wooden block and jack under the oil pan and then take out the three right-side vertical bolts securing the front engine bracket. Put the vehicle on a hoist, detach the right front wheel and belt splash shield and once more use a solid block and screw jack to support the engine under the oil pan. Use the two bolts on each mount to detach it from the engine, then let the screw jack slowly lower the engine. After that, take off the accessory drive belts and the crankshaft damper bolt. Remove the damper by placing the Special Tool 8454 Puller and Insert 6827-A on the bottom of the rim and levering up. When installing, insert the Special Tool 6792 parts as follows: bolt, washer, thruster, nut, crank vibration damper; and tighten the crank vibration damper bolt to 142 Nm (105 ft. lbs.). Place the accessory drive belts back and use the screw jack to raise the engine just enough to enable you to install the front and rear mount bolts, torquing each bolt to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). Fix the belt splash shield and right front wheel and raise the car again. Under the oil pan, elevate the engine onto a wooden block using a floor jack, adjust the engine until the bracket on the right is even with the right engine mount and secure the three bolts in the front bracket to a torque of 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). Afterward, put away the floor jack and link the negative battery cable once again.
