2001 Chrysler Voyager Crankshaft Seal Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Crankshaft Seal on 2001 Chrysler Voyager?
A: You must first take out the transaxle and flex plate to replace or repair the crankshaft main bearing seal. Slide a 3/16 flat bladed screwdriver between the rubber lip and the crankshaft seal case, angling the screwdriver so as not to press on the seal while still allowing undamaged contact with the chamfer. If anything on the edge of the crankshaft is binding, use 400 grit sandpaper to smooth it so it doesn't harm the new seal when it goes on. There is no need to lubricate the new seal during installation. Apply Special Tool 6926-1 Seal Guide to the crankshaft and slide the seal over the special guide, with its lip facing the crankcase. Avoid forcing the seal into the block where it bulges past flush, because it might begin to leak oil. Take Special Tool 6926-2 and handle C-4171 to press the seal into the block until the tool hits the bottom. After putting the seal in, place the flex plate back and dab Mopar Lock & Seal Adhesive on the bolt threads before tightening them to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.).
