2001 Dodge Dakota Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Repair a Power Steering Hose on 2001 Dodge Dakota?
A: Start the repair or service of your power steering line and hose by removing fluid from the power steering system. First, raise the vehicle, then take the return hose from the cooler and from the gear and next remove the pressure hose from the vehicle. Once again, drain the pump, lift the vehicle so both ends of the pressure hose are off the ground, take off the hose at the pump and at the gear and pull it out of the system. First, attach one end of the return hose to the vehicle and then reconnect the other end at the cooler, tightening to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.), after which reconnect it at the gear and again tighten to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). Remove the support and place the vehicle lower on the ground before you refill the power steering system. Make sure the pressure hose is attached to the vehicle, is reconnected at the gear and tightened to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.) and is then reconnected at the pump and tightened to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). Afterward, take out the car's support, lower it and add more power steering fluid.
