Check that the engine is off and watch the fluid level to avoid risk from the engine moving while you work. Don't use automatic transmission fluid; instead, use Mopar Power Steering Fluid or an alternative liquid and don't go over the maximum recommended amount. Clean the filler cap and make sure the fluid is measured as Cold with the engine cold. Fully steer right and once you have refilled the pump fluid reservoir, make sure it settles down for two minutes after you are done. Lift the front part of your vehicle off the ground and with the engine off, start turning the wheel from side to side, going as far as it'll go, 20 times for most vehicles. Turn on the engine and check that the fluid is not going low while it idle. Drop the car's front wheels, then let the engine idle for two minutes; afterward, turn the steering wheel first left and then right to hear and feel its working. If the fluid in the fluid level seems heavily foamy or milky, quickly place the vehicle out of gear and wait a few minutes before checking again.
