2001 Dodge Durango Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Harmonic Balancer and Crankshaft Pulley on 2001 Dodge Durango?
A: Before you start, always remove the negative cable from the battery. Unplug the cooling system fan and also the accessory drive belt while you're working. Next, remove the vibration damper bolt and its companion washer off the crankshaft. Put Special Tool 8513 into the nose of the crankshaft and use Special Tool 1026 to pull the vibration damper off. Before installation, remove all contaminants from the crankshaft nose and the vibration damper bore to stop major harm. Raise the crankshaft and set the vibration damper on it, then use the installing tool from Puller Tool Set C-3688 to push the damper onto the crankshaft. Supplied the crankshaft bolt and installed the washer, attaching the bolt with 244 Nm (180 ft. lbs.) of torque. Push the accessory drive belt into place, put the fan shroud where it Goes and install all the bolts, making sure to tighten the retainer bolts to 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.) torque. After that, place the cooling fan and make sure the battery negative cable is reconnected.
