2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Lash Adjuster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Lash Adjuster on 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: The first step in working on and repairing the lifter and lash adjuster is to remove the cylinder head(s) followed by taking out the yoke retainer and aligning yokes. After that, take out the hydraulic lifters with Special Tool C-4129 or an equivalent and mark each lifter so you can put it back in its original position if it will be reused. Put a drop of engine oil onto the lifters and place them in the bore so the lubrication hole is facing the engine head. Put the hydraulic lifters back in place, so that the oilling hole points upwards to the center of the block. Next, fit the lifter aligning yokes and the yoke retainer, finishing with torque on the screws to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). At last, fit the cylinder heads, start the engine and warm it up until it reaches normal operating temperature, but make sure not to run it above fast idle until all hydraulic lifters are filled with oil and are not noisy or this can resulting in damage to the valves.
