- Q: How to Maintain a Wiper Arm on 2001 Dodge Neon?A: Place the wiper arm and blades in the PARK position, turn the ignition OFF and then you are ready to service them. Take a trim stick (special tool #C-4755) or an alternative tool and gently pry up and remove the arm cap. Then, take out the wiper arm retaining nut and frame the arm will swing through a rocking motion when it is over/centered on the wiper pivot. Brush away any bits of metal from the pivot shaft. While installing, keep the wiper module in PARK, move the motor if needed and set the wiper arms so that the heel of the blade(s) lines up with the park mark on the glass. Remove any left-over metal filings from the pivot shafts, then place the arm on them by making a rocking movement as the arms rest in the middle center place. Tighten the wiper arm retaining nut so that you reach 19.7 - 21.5 Nm (175 - 190 in. lbs.) and then set the arm nut cap in its place. Lastly, cycle the wiper arm/blades and confirm they park in the PARK position as the engine is shut down.
