2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Blower Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Blower Motor on 2001 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: The first step to working on the blower motor is to cut all electrical current by taking down the negative battery cable. After that, remove the blower motor cooling tube from its connection with the nipple on the housing and unplug the blower motor wire harness from its retainer. Disconnect the blower motor wire harness lead from the HVAC housing harness and then use a screwdriver to take out the screws holding down the blower motor and wheel assembly. Remove and lower the blower motor, its wheel and surrounding cover from the housing. Take out the blower wheel retainer clip and get rid of the wheel from the motor shaft. When installing only the blower motor wheel, slide the hub back until it connects with the motor, making sure the flat portions align. Set the retainer clip over the blower wheel hub, placing the ears of the clip on the flats of the blower motor shaft and wheel hub. Make certain the blower motor seal fits securely around the housing and put the blower with its wheel, the cover and the motor back in, attaching them with the three screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Insert the end of the blower motor wire harness connector into the HVAC housing wire harness, place the blower motor wire harness inside the wire harness retainer, link the blower motor cooling tube to the fitting on the blower motor portion and then lastly rehook the negative battery wire.
