2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Van Blower Motor Resistor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service the blower motor resistor on 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Van?
A: The first thing to do when servicing the blower motor resistor is to disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. On the heater-A/C housing, first disconnect the wire harness connector next to the blower motor and remove the two holding screws, then you can take out the resistor. For the rear blower motor resistor in models with the optional rear heater-A/C unit, put the rear heater-A/C to heat mode, remove the ignition key from ON and switch the temperature to full heat before disconnecting the negative battery cable. Pull up the rear heater-A/C cover, unhook the wire connector from the rear motor resistor and take the horizontal duct out from the unit. To get at the blower motor resistor, push the shield inboard toward the retainer, remove it by applying pressure and bring the resistor out from the horizontal duct outlet. Place the front blower motor resistor in the hole, hold it in place with two screws fastened to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.) and join the wire harness. Drop the rear blower resistor into the connection on the upper housing, slide the mounting flange edge under the tabs, hold it against the wall on the mounting hole and push down until it locks into place. Link the wire harnesses again, slide on the horizontal duct cover and finish by connecting the battery negative wire.
