2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Windshield Washer Pump on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Start by getting rid of any power from the car by releasing the negative cable from the battery before working on the pump. After that, disconnect the washer pump/motor connector to the headlamp and dash wire harness. Unhook the drain hose from the washer pump/motor's barbed outlet nipple, so the washer fluid can drain away for later reuse. Please use a trim stick or a similar tool with a broad flat blade to gently take out the barbed nipple of the washer pump from the rubber grommet in the reservoir; do this without harming the reservoir. Pull out and trash the rubber seal from around the pump mounting hole in the washer reservoir. When installing, add a fresh rubber grommet seal into the appliance washer pump hole. Line the barbed inlet nipple of the washer pump up with the rubber grommet in the reservoir and push firmly until it fits in place. After that, attach the hose to the barbed outlet nipple of the washer pump and plug the end of the headlamp and dash wire harness into the motor connector. Pour the drained washing fluid back into the tank, attach the battery negative cable lastly and tighten all the connections.
