2001 Dodge Ram 3500 Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Rocker Arm Assembly on 2001 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: The rocker arm assembly is served by first getting rid of the cylinder head cover and gasket. Following this, pull out the rocker arm bolts and pivots and keep them on a bench, in the same position as they were when you took them off. After that, lift out the push rods and keep them on the bench, just as you removed them. Use the handle to turn the crankshaft so that the V8 mark on the flywheel is in place with the TDC point on the timing chain cover at an angle of 147" ATDC from the No. 1 cylinder firing position. After the push rods are in, place the rocker arm and pivot assemblies in order to make sure they are back in the same position. Turn the rocker arm bolts to a torque of 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Make sure not to crank or turn the engine just after installing the rocker arms; give the hydraulic roller tappets at least 5 minutes to bleed down. Install the cylinder head cover as the last part.
