2001 Dodge Stratus Exhaust Pipe Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix an Exhaust Pipe on 2001 Dodge Stratus?
A: Raise the car on a hoist, spray penetrating oil on the band clamp and fasteners of the resonator/pipe assembly and the exhaust system at the cross under pipe to loosen them. Pull out the strap that attaches the exhaust system to the ground and undo the band on the resonator/pipe. Be careful when taking off the rubber isolators and you may apply a bit of soap water or silicone spray if they are stuck, but do not use anything with petroleum. Then, take off the support isolators from the muffler mounting points and get rid of the tube assembly made up of the resonator and muffler in one piece. Disconnect the fasteners from the exhaust pipe and cross-under pipe and wiggle the pipe out. To install, join the exhaust pipe to the cross-under pipe and following that, loosely place the resonator/pipe and muffler/pipe assembly on the exhaust pipe. After installing the support isolators on the muffler supports, line up the pipe on top of the vehicle with the resonator/muffler assembly to make sure it does not hit any underbody parts and the support weight is the same on each isolator. Screw together the exhaust pipe's clamps with the cross-under pipe up to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.) and clamp the resonator or pipe assembly with the band clamp to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). After that, attach the ground strap to the muffler and lower the car.
