How to Maintain an Exhaust Pipe on Dodge Stratus?

Be sure the exhaust system has sufficiently cooled down because of its hot operating temperature in the area around the catalytic converter, before tending to the exhaust crossover pipe. Start with raising the vehicle above the ground on a hoist and then removing the connectors from the downstream oxygen sensor. After that, take out the oil pan to transmission structural collar and cut the exhaust system pipe from the cross-under pipe. Separate the fasteners between the cross-under pipe and the catalytic converters before you remove the pipe. To put in a new gasket, set it on the lower part of the catalytic converter and if there's a new cross-under pipe, attach the oxygen sensors to it. Cross-under pipe should be fitted in a general way to the catalytic converters and secure the bolts with mild pressure. Tighten the two bolts for the cross-under pipe connected to the catalytic converter at the rear to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.) and those at the front to the same force. Link the exhaust system pipe to the cross-under pipe and fasten them together at 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.). Fit the oil pan to the lower end of the transmission, plug the oxygen sensor wires into place and bring the vehicle back to the ground.
