2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Car Speakers Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install Car Speakers in Various Locations on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Remove the negative battery cable, isolate it and pull the trim panel off the rear door to access the speaker. Now, remove the three screws keeping the speaker held to the inner rear door panel and pull back the speaker slightly, disconnecting the connector from the speaker receptacle before you take the speaker away from the door. Working again with the instrument panel speaker, disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable, open the top cover of the instrument panel, unplug the two wire harnesses from each other and untighten and remove the screws holding the speaker in place. First, disconnect the battery negative cable and isolate it. Next, get rid of the front door trim piece, loosen the four screws connecting the speaker, pull the speaker, unhook the front door wire harness connector and finally, get rid of the speaker. Start installation by mounting the rear door speaker to the rear door inner panel, plugging in the rear door wire harness connector, placing the speaker onto the panel and installing and securing the three screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Then, put on the trim panel and reconnect the car to the battery. After adding the speaker to the top of the instrument panel, fasten it in place with two screws tightened to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Bring together the instrument panel wire and speaker wire harness connectors, install the top cover and link the battery negative to its proper terminal. Align the front door speaker with the inside door panel, attach the front door wire harness to the speaker connector, position the speaker onto the front door inner panel, tighten the four screws down to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.), put the trim panel into place and finally reconnect the negative battery cable.
