2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Car Speakers Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install Car Speakers in the Instrument Panel and Doors on 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before you remove the instrument panel speaker, first take the battery negative cable off and then open the top panel on the instrument panel. Unhook the wire harness connector from the instrument panel panel, remove the screws from the top of the panel and remove the speaker. With the front door speaker, separate the battery negative cable, isolating it and then pull off the trim panel from the front door. Loosen the four screws that hold the speaker to the front door inner panel, take the speaker out to get to the harness connector, disconnect it and remove the speaker. The negative battery cable should be cut and removed before you can take the trim panel off the rear door speaker. Disconnect the wire harness and speaker by removing the three screws that hold the speaker to the inner panel, withdraw the speaker, then release the connection between the speaker and the door. The instrument panel speaker goes on top of the instrument panel; install the two screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.), attach the panel wire harness to the speaker wire harness, cover the instrument panel and screw the battery negative cable down. For the front door speaker, attach it to the inside panel of the front door, plug the front door wire harness into the speaker connector, position the speaker onto the door panel, tighten the four screws to 20 in. lbs., install the trim and reconnect the battery negative cable. Put the rear door speaker on the rear door inner panel, join the rear door wire harness to the speaker connector, place the speaker on the inner panel and screw in the three 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.) screws. Then, set the trim panel in place and reconnect the car battery negative cable.
