2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Cruise Control Servo Parts and Q&A
Q: How is the Cruise Control Servo Removed and Installed on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: A bracket is fixed below the battery tray and on it, we mount the speed control servo. The first thing to do is take out the negative and positive cable connectors from the battery. After that, take off the air cleaner housing at the top of the throttle body and remove the servo cable from the throttle body. After that, remove the battery from the battery tray and separate the wiring that goes to the battery tray. Take out the positive terminal from the PDC and open the PDC on the battery tray. Take out the four bolts on the battery tray, making sure one of these is also connected to the speed control bracket flange and separate the battery temperature sensor connector when removing the battery tray. Separate the vacuum hose at the servo vacuum fitting and pull off the electrical connector from the servo. When removing both the servo and mounting bracket, first take out the two nuts holding the servo above the tire, remove the fender clips and ease back the fender slightly. When removing a servo from its mounting bracket, remove the two mounting nuts securing the servo cable sleeve and pull the speed control cable sleeve as well as the servo side of the cable out to reach and remove the clip holding the cable in place in the mounting bracket. The servo may then be removed independently from its mounting or it can come out attached as one unit. Installation is done by putting the servo on the mounting bracket, lining up the cable connector's hole with that on the servo and pushing on the cable-to-servo retaining clip. Pull the servo mounting studs through the holes on the bracket, fit the servo cable mounting nuts and, using a screwdriver, tighten them to 8.5 Nm (75 in. lbs.). If the servo and bracket are being put in together, place the two mounting nuts and tighten to 28 Nm ± 6 Nm (250 in. lbs. ± 50 in. lbs.) torque. Notice that in your sparco vacuum throttle kit there is a vacuum line and an electrical connector for the servo. Once attached, route the servo cable to the throttle body. Set up the battery tray and battery temperature sensor, then wire them up again and fix the battery to the car. After that, attach the positive battery cable to the PDC and the battery and then the negative battery cable. Operate the accelerator pedal before turning on the engine.
