How to Maintain and Fix the Cruise Control Switch on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Before fixing or repairing the cruise control switch, turn off the air bag system by first disconnecting the negative battery cable for two minutes so the capacitor has time to drain and no accidental air bag goes off. After that, take out the air bag module, unplug the electrical connector at the switch and remove the screw that mounts the switch to the steering wheel. Secure the installation with a mounting screw and make sure the torque is 1.5 Nm (15 in. lbs.). Reconnect the wiring for the electrical connector to the switch, place the air bag module into its spot and finally attach the negative battery cable.
