2001 Jeep Wrangler Cruise Control Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Handle a Cruise Control Switch When Working with Airbag and Steering Components on 2001 Jeep Wrangler?
A: It is important to disconnect and move the battery negative cable away from its connector before trying to remove, install or diagnose the air bag or steering wheel and column. Allow 2 minutes so that the system capacitor empties before attempting any action on the gun to avoid injury. The first thing to do is disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. Following this, get rid of the air bag module. Remove the screw on the back of the steering wheel at the place where the speed control switch is mounted. Pull the switch out and unplug the connector. While attaching the switch, put the electrical connector into the base, fit the base onto the steering wheel and tighten the Phillips screw to 1.5 Nm or 14 inch-pounds. Replace the air bag module and connect its negative connection to the battery.
