2002 Chrysler 300M Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Throttle Position Sensor on 2002 Chrysler 300M?
A: For Throttle Position Sensor service, begin by taking out the negative battery cable and the air plenum. Following that, pull the TPS electrical connector off, undo any holding screws and get the TPS out. During installation, line up the throttle shaft end of the throttle body with the large socket held in place by two small tabs in the TPS. Once the indexing is done accurately, the TPS can be rotated clockwise slightly so its screw holes line up with the throttle body's and there should be little tension when rotated into place. Should you struggle to let the battery turn where you want it, reverse the initial battery position by inserting it through the throttle with its shaft above the tabs. Tighten the screws for the mounting to 6.2 Nm (55 in. lbs.) before proceeding. After you put in the TPS, check that the throttle plate is closed; if not, put the sensor on the other side of the tabs. Then, join the electrical connector to the TPS, place the air plenum back in, clamp it securely and plug back the negative cable to the battery.
