  A: Removal of the washer reservoir is the first step to service and repair the windshield washer pump. Pry the pump from the reservoir and from the grommet, making sure you do not harm the reservoir. Pull out the rubber grommet from the reservoir and toss it away. It works best if you first place a grommet and then put petroleum jelly on the pump before installation. Slide the pump all the way into the grommet so it is in place. Place the reservoir back on and screw the nuts and bolts to a torque between 9 and 14 Nm (80 to 124 in. lbs.). While the oil is filling, use a commercial oil to wipe the leaks and seeps in your engine.
