2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser Fuel Level Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Level Sensor on 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: First, detach the fuel pump module to work on the fuel level sensor. Press the retaining tab and disconnect the fuel pump/level sensor connector from underneath the module connector, since the top pump module harness attached to the flange cannot be removed. After that, undo the wedge lock on the electrical connector with a terminal removal tool called Special Tool C-4334 or a similar one. With the sensor pressed in, slide your grip down toward the pump module, then push the level sensor out of the channel. For setup, place the wires inside the groove at the back of the level sensor, while gradually feeding them from the other side, guide the level sensor towards the top so it pops into place and latches with its bottom tab. After pushing the wires up into the connector, pull them down so they lock into their slots with the signal wire in the upper position and the ground wire in the lower position. After that, attach the locking wedge to the connector, press the connector upwards into the bottom of the fuel pump module power connector and mount the fuel pump module again.
