2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: To repair the fuel rail, lower pressure within the fuel system, keep the area well-ventilated and be careful to prevent any sparks. To start, open the lid on the air cleaner, separate the inlet air temperature sensor and makeup air hose and unattach the negative battery cable. If the car has them, take off the engine cover and the throttle shield. Put shop towels around the hose to catch any drops of gas while you disconnect the supply tube and remove the Intake Manifold. Disconnect the fuel injectors from the car's electrical system, then take out the bolts holding the fuel rail. After that, pull out the rail with the fuel injectors still attached. After that, take the injectors off the fuel rail. First, put the injectors back on the fuel rail and apply a very light layer of clean engine oil to the O-ring part of each injector's nozzle. Push the fuel injector nozzles into their proper places in the intake manifold and then tighten the fuel rail bolts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). Place the looseness of the fuel injectors, attach the fuel supply to the fuel rail and put the Intake Manifold in its original position. Should the scenario involve it, place the engine cover or throttle control shield back, link the negative battery cable again and set up the air cleaner lid, while tightening the clamps on the air inlet tube to 3 Nm (± 5%) torque.
