2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser Idle Control Valve Parts and Q&A
Q: How Should Idle Control Valve and Throttle Body Components Be Serviced and Reassembled on 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Whenever you reassemble a throttle body component, install fresh O-rings and seals and never use lubricants on them; when the assembly is tough, try using water to help its completion. First, pull out the negative cable from the battery, then take out the connector between the engine and idle air control motor, remove the bolts holding the motor to the throttle body and make sure to remove the O-rings with the motor. A new O-ring is provided for installation of the idle air control motor and, for 2.4L engines, if the pintle is over 1 inch (25 mm), it should be retracted with the DRB Idle Air Control Motor Open/Close Test as the battery is put in. Carefully slip the air control motor for idle into the throttle body, fix it in place, fasten the mounting screws to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.) by torque, attach the electrical connector and reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
