2002 Chrysler Sebring Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Rocker Arm Assembly on 2002 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Opening the cylinder head cover(s) is the first step for rocker arm assembly service. Rotate the engine using the crankshaft every time to prevent valve and piston damage. Turn the engine until the cam lobe is on the bottom of the circle for the rocker arm you are removing and only press down on the valve spring with Special Tools 8215-A and 8216-A Adapter instead of lifting it completely. Remove the rocker arm from the cylinder head and make sure you mark which rocker arm goes where, if you are going to reuse them. Examine all rocker arms for damage or your cam follower assembly for any problems and replace the parts when they are needed. Rocker arm installation means you apply clean engine oil to the arms, then turn the engine so its cam lobe is located at the center line of the arm's motion. Depress the valve spring with Special Tool 8215-A, install the rocker arm in place and secure it with Special Tool 8216-A Adapter to be certain it connects with the lash adjusters and valve tips before taking away the tension from the valve spring. Perform these steps on every rocker arm being replaced and after that, reinstall each cylinder head cover.
