2002 Dodge Neon Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Light Switch on 2002 Dodge Neon?
A: Unhook the car battery's negative wire from its mount before handling the brake light switch. Twist the brake lamp switch counterclockwise about 30 degrees and remove it from its fixation, then break the connection between the wiring harness and the switch and throw away the old switch instead of reusing it. Replace the brake lamp switch, setting the adjustment lever at 45° from the connector; if it is level with the wiring, throw the switch out. Attach the harness to the new switch, set it in the bracket by finding the two matching parts and rotating it clockwise almost 30° and press down to secure it. While your brake pedal is not being pushed, move the adjustment lever from the 45° setting so it is now parallel with the wiring connector. Connect the battery's negative terminal, examine the stop lamps and check that the brakes and speed control are working on the road.
