How to Service and Repair a Rear Door Latch Assembly on 2002 Dodge Neon?

You should first open the door rim door panel and close the glass before working on the rear door latch. Relax the rear bottom run channel and get rid of the clips holding the linkage rods to the door latch. Lift the latch off its rods and then remove the screws holding it in place, using this to remove the door latch from your vehicle. Connect the door latch to the vehicle and then attach it by putting in the screws. Position and tighten the linkage rods and the lock and latch rods to the door latch and first ensure the lower rear run channel is tight before putting back the door trim panel. Please don't close the door without locking the latch, since this could prevent the door from being open.
