2002 Dodge Neon Fuel Level Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Fuel Level Sensor on 2002 Dodge Neon?
A: The first step to servicing the fuel level sending unit is to remove the fuel pump module. Press the tab on the retainer to break the connection between the bottom of the fuel pump module and the fuel pump/level sensor. After that, pull out the blue locking wedge. Raise the locking finger with a small screwdriver, release the terminal by moving it out of the connector and afterward remove the level sensor signal and ground terminals. Move the wires from the level sensor through the hole in the fuel pump module, keeping it secure and remove the level sensor from its fitting. Set the level sensor wires into the hole at the bottom of the module and wrap them inside the back groove of the level sensor. Move the wires into the guide tracks and then raise the level sensor upward into the housing until it locks in position with the bottom tab secure. Push each wire from the connector upwards, attach them to the level sensor and pull back down to hold them securely, making sure you have put the signal and ground wires correctly. Lock the connector with its wedge, apply light pressure when sliding the connector down into the bottom socket of the fuel pump module and finish by reinstalling the fuel pump module.
