2002 Dodge Neon Fuel Injector Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Fuel Injector on 2002 Dodge Neon?
A: Before changing the fuel injector, first remove the negative battery cable and release all fuel pressure. After that, remove both the fuel line and the electrical leads from the fuel injectors. With the fuel rail mounting screws removed, lift the fuel rail from the intake manifold, so it doesn't expose the fuel injectors inside the manifold. Disconnect the fuel injector retainer and pull the injector from the fuel rail. Then replace the O-rings. Apply a little clean engine oil to the upper O-ring, insert the injector into the cup on the fuel rail and fit the retaining clip to secure it. Then, put a small amount of clean engine oil on the O-ring at the bottom of each injector and push the nozzles in all the way, making sure they are seated properly in their openings in the intake manifold. Tighten the brackets holding the fuel rail to 22.5 Nm ± 3 Nm (200 ± 30 in. lbs.), connect the fuel injection electrical wires and fix the fuel tube to the fuel rail.
