Q: How to Service and Repair the Rear Brake Line on 2002 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: For servicing or fixing the rear brake hose, first use a prop rod to stop pressure from leaving the brake pedal. Then, raise and stable the vehicle for better access. Take out the brake line from the hose at the frame, the brake hose clip at the frame's top, the vent tube, both brake lines from the axle bottom, the brackets for the brake hose at the axle and the hose itself at last. For the rear tube/hose assembly, begin as before, using a prop rod and raising the vehicle, then take out the brake line by the axle, the mounting bolt for the brake hose at the axle, the banjo bolt at the caliper and the hose. After lowering the vehicle, install a prop rod, lift it again, remove the tire and wheel, separate the brake hose from the frame, the caliper and the wheel speed sensor wire, then remove the hose. Fit the rear brake hose, then connect the mounting bolt and hose at the axle, add the brake lines at the bottom of the hose at the axle, secure the vent tube, snug the clause on the top of the hose and connect the brake line to the hose at the frame before removing the support, prop rod and bleeding the brakes. When setting up the rear tube/hose assembly, first fit the hose, tighten the banjo bolt at the caliper, install the brake hose mounting bolt on the axle, fit the brake line at the axle, lower the vehicle, take out the support, remove the prop rod and bleed the brakes. For the front brake hose installation, set up the brake hose, screw in the brake hose mounting bolt at the frame, connect the hose to the brake with the brake hose banjo bolt, reconnect the wheel speed sensor to the brake hose, unhook the support, lower the car, disconnect the support, lower the car, remove the prop rod from the brake pedal and bleed your brakes.
