2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Master Cylinder on 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The first thing to do for service or repair on the brake master cylinder is to disconnect the wire from the brake fluid level sensor and take off the brake lines from the cylinder. Once you've removed the clamps, take the bolts out that connect the brake master cylinder to the booster studs. Then, remove the brake master cylinder from the booster. Before putting the new brake master cylinder on the car, bleed it on a bench. Make sure an assistant gently applies the brake pedal as you fit the brake master cylinder onto the booster rod and mounting studs, so you don't put too much pressure on the parts and damage them. Place the brake master cylinder mounting nuts and tighten them to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) using only factory replacement nuts. Lincoln states to fix the brake lines again and fasten them each to 16 Nm (144 in. lbs.), before connecting the fluid level sensor connector. When the job is done, go ahead and bleed the brakes one last time.
