2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Brake Caliper on Rear Disc Brakes on 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Install the inboard brake shoe first when putting in the rear disc brake caliper. Rub the slide pins and slide pin bushings with Dow Corning grease G807 or the caliper's grease. After that, put the caliper onto the anchor and check that the slide pin is secure, tightening it to between 29 and 41 Nm (21 and 30 ft. lbs.). Once you have calibrated, add the caliper slide pin caps. Place the caliper support spring into the top of the caliper and below the anchor, attach the other end in the lower hole and use your thumb to hold it in place while you push it out under the anchor with the screwdriver. Always check that the brake hose isn't twisted or kinked before putting on the bolt. Cover the caliper stud with new gasket washers, bolt the brake hose in place and tighten it with your hands. Following a brake bleed, install the wheel and tire assemblies and then remove the supports and slowly lower the vehicle.
