2002 Jeep Wrangler Car Speakers Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Upgrade Car Speakers and Amplified Subwoofers on 2002 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Use the manual to disconnect the battery negative cable, next remove the center console and disconnect the wire harness retainer and connector. After that, detach the side-mounting screws, lift the lid to remove the fasteners and get rid of the amplified subwoofer. To install the amplifier, place the subwoofer back into the console, hold it in place by bolting the kit over the top and the screws along the side, plug the wire harness connector back in, place the center console back into position and join the negative wire harness again. When swapping out the speaker, unplug the battery negative cable first and second, unscrew the screws holding the outboard edge of the bezel to the dash. Using a trim stick or similar tool, very gently pry up both the top and bottom edges of the speaker bezel to let the snap clip retainers go and take off the bezel carefully. Afterwards, unscrew the four screws holding the speaker to the armature, lift the speaker out, remove the connector and take the speaker out. To install the speaker, hook the speaker wire connector to it, place the speaker in the instrument panel and use the four small screws to hold it in place tightened to 1.1 Nm (10 in. lbs). Bolt the speaker bezel in place and tighten the screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs) and then insert and tighten the negative battery terminal.
