2002 Jeep Wrangler Tie Rod End Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Tie Rod End on 2002 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before you service or repair the tie rod end, take out the cotter pins and nuts at the steering knuckle and drag link. Use C-4150R to get rid of the ball studs. Sometimes, you'll have to stop pulling at the end, loosen the tie rod end's bolts and disconnect them from the tube. If the tie rod ends need to be installed, slip them into the tube, put the clamp in place and tighten to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Following this, place the tie rod on top of the drag link and steering knuckle. After that, tighten the ball stud nut on the steering knuckle and the ball stud nut to the drag link to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) and install new cotter pins.
