2002 Jeep Wrangler Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Power Steering Pump on 2002 Jeep Wrangler?
A: To start, release the serpentine drive belt and then disconnect the hoses of pressure and return from the pump and drain it. After that, open the pulley access holes and remove the three bolts attaching the pump, as well as the three bracket bolts. Tip the pump down out of the engine and then remove the pulley from it. First, install the pulley on the pump and then bolt the pump in place on the engine bracket, tightening all the bolds to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). Screw in the three pump mounting bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) and then link the pressure line to the pump and screw it in at 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Afterward, connect the return hoses to the pump, install the drive belt and pour power steering fluid into the pump.
