• Q: How to Remove and Install a Vapor Canister in the Engine Compartment on 2002 Jeep Wrangler?

  A: The EVAP canister is attached to a bracket in the engine area along the left front inner fender. Before removing the canister, pull out the vacuum connections and record their locations for later replacement. After that, take out the mounting bolt that holds the canister and shake the canister free by pulling the two dowel pins out of the black bushings. When installing, start by inserting the canister dowel pins into the rubber bushings. Bolts need to go in next, having been tightened to 9 Nm (equivalent to 80 in. lbs.) torque and lastly reconnect the vacuum lines/hoses at the EVAP canister.
