2002 Jeep Wrangler Wheel Bearing Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Wheel Bearing on 2002 Jeep Wrangler?
A: You should start by lifting and supporting the vehicle, then remove the wheel and tie at the next step. After that, remove the brake caliper, rotor and ABS wheel speed sensor. Following this, get rid of the cotter pin, nut retainer and axle hub nut. Remove the back bolt from the steering knuckle hub bearing and take out the hub bearing, along with the shaft, from the steering knuckle. You should first put the hub bearing and brake dust shield onto the knuckle, then install the hub bearing to knuckle bolts and tighten them to 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.). Afterward, put the hub washer and nut in place and tighten the nut to 237 Nm (175 ft. lbs.). When it's fitted, put the nut retainer and a new cotter pin in place. Finally, place the brake rotor, caliper and ABS wheel speed sensor on top, add the wheel and tire and drop the vehicle after removing the helpers.
