2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser Wiper Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Front Wiper Motor in a Left-Hand Drive on 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Open the hood and disconnect the battery negative cable as the first thing to service the front wiper motor. With the trim stick (special tool #C-4755) or an equivalent, carefully lift the cap on the wiper arm nut and take it off, then remove the wiper arm's retaining nut and rock the arm off the pivot with the vehicle in the over/centered position. After that, lift the rear engine compartment seal on the cowl, take off all three retainers on the right side cover and remove the two retainers on the left side cover. Detach the front wiper motor posi-lock harness at its connector, take out the module's three bolts and remove the module. Start by taking out the nut and bell crank at the rod end and next, loosen and remove the three bolts connecting the front wiper motor to the module. When installing, put the motor onto the wiper module, attach the three bolts and then attach the bell crank and its retaining nut. Line up the front wiper arm inside the cowl and use the three bolts to attach it, torquing them between 60 and 80 in. lbs. Plug the harness connector into the front wiper motor posi-lock, then place the left side cover into position and secure it with two push retainers, after that, put on the right side cover secured by two push retainers and finally install the rear engine compartment seal at the cowl. Prior to attaching the front wiper arms, activate the wipers to be certain the front wiper module is in the PARK position and line up the tips of the driver's blade and the middle of the passenger's blade with the park mark on the windshield. On the pivot with the arm in an over/middle position, attach the wiper arm retaining nut and tighten it to 21 Nm (190 in. lbs.). Then install the wiper arm nut cap. Reconnect the other battery cable, shut the hood and make sure the electrical system is functioning.
