2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser Wiper Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Front Wiper Motor in a RHD on 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Service the front wiper motor by first opening the hood and unhooking the negative cable from the battery. Set the trim stick under the wiper nut's cap, lift up gently, then remove the cap and follow by removing the retaining nut before gently rocking the wiper arm off the pivot on the over/centered side. After that, remove the cover of the cowl by taking off the seal on the rear engine side, as well as both of the push retainers on the right of the right side cowl cover and the remaining two on the left of the left side cowl cover. First, remove the front wiper motor posi-lock harness connector, next get rid of the three front wiper module mounting bolts and last bring the module out of the vehicle. Once you have removed the one bell crank nut, follow by unbolting the three bolts and remove the front wiper motor from the module. Set the motor on the wiper module and fix it with the three supplied bolts. Then place the bell crank and attach it with its retaining nut. Install the wiper module in front of the cowl, holding it with three bolts and tighten them to 7 to 9 Nm (60 to 80 in. lbs.). Attach the front wiper motor posi-lock harness connector first, then fit the cowl cover over the left side, hold it in place with two push retainers, move to the right side and insert it, fastening with two push retainers before installing the rear engine compartment seal. Run the wiper system before attaching the wiper arms, making sure the front wiper module is at PARK and align the tips of both blades along the park mark on the windshield. Keep the arm in the over/centered position and place it on the pivot. Apply 21 Nm (190 in. lbs. ) of torque to the wiper arm - retaining nut and then install the wiper arm cap nut. Return the negative battery cable, lower the hood and check that everything is working properly.
