2003 Chrysler Voyager Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Intermediate Parking Brake Cable on 2003 Chrysler Voyager?
A: When servicing or repairing the intermediate parking brake cable, first place the vehicle on a lift, block out the auto adjusting tension by holding the parking brake lever and leave the locking pliers in place until the cable is complete. Drop the middle parking brake cable off the cable equalizer and remove the nut that secures its assembly to the bracket bolted to the frame rail. Take apart the connection between the parking brake cable running to the right rear and the intermediate parking brake cable. After that, remove the nut from the cable housing on the frame rail. On short-wheel-base versions, bring the fuel tank down to allow the intermediate parking brake cable to be pulled out. First, after removing the cables, put the free ends into the frame rails and secure them to both side brackets using the locking nuts. If that is possible, reinstall the fuel tank in the usual location. Link the intermediate parking brake cable to the cable connector on the right rear parking brake cable and also to the cable equalizer. Take the locking pliers off the front park brake cable to get the automatic adjuster going and ensure the cables are adjusted properly. Place the foam collar around the end of the parking brake cable, then lower your vehicle and step on the park brake pedal just once to settle the cables.
