2003 Dodge Dakota Antenna Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an Antenna Cable and Its Body on 2003 Dodge Dakota?
A: First, remove and separate the negative connection from the battery before doing anything else. The antenna coaxial cable connector on the right cowl side inner panel should be disconnected by lifting the trim cover, twisting the connector as you pull it from both halves. Access both the retainers for the antenna cable inside the fender at the front and in the panel of the right cowl. Loosen and remove the antenna mast from the antenna body; the nut which holds the antenna on must be pulled out using a special antenna nut wrench (Special Tool C-4816). First, remove the antenna adapter from the fender and follow it with the antenna body pushed through the mounting hole at the top of the fender. Take out the antenna body and cable by passing them out the front door opening between the fender and the cowl side, cutting off the antenna coaxial cable grommet, sending the cable out through the hole in the right side cowl and take everything out of the vehicle. When installing, put the antenna body and cable between the outer panel on the right cowl and the fender inside the front door opening, then feed the antenna coaxial cable into the interior through the right cowl hole. Set the antenna body into the top fender hole, put the adapter over it from above and secure the antenna nut with a nut wrench (Special Tool C-4816) until you reach 8 Nm (70 in. lbs.). Attach and tightly fasten the antenna mast to the antenna body to 3.3 Nm (30 in. lbs.), secure the antenna coaxial cable retainers on the right cowl side inner panel and inside the inner panel of the right front fender and then put the antenna coaxial cable connector back under the center of the instrument panel next to the glove box. Later on, slide the cover over the cowl groove and attach the negative battery cable.
