2003 Dodge Durango Coil Springs Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix Coil Springs on 2003 Dodge Durango?
A: Raise the vehicle in the air and then take out the wheel and tire before working on the coil spring. Color the stabilizer bar link from the lower suspension arm and get rid of the shock absorber. Put the Spring Compressor DD-1278 through the lower suspension arm, the coil spring and up to the upper shock hole and tighten the lower nut. Afterward, undo the nut from the lower ball joint and pull the ball joint away from the knuckle using Remover C-4150A. Unscrew the nut of the spring compressor lower arm, take the tool out and apply pressure on the lower suspension arm to remove the spring. Apply isolator pad to top of the coil spring and set the spring into the lower suspension arm pocket. Place Spring Compressor DD-1278 into the lower suspension arm and upper shock mounting hole, then use the nut to compress the spring. Push the lower ball joint onto the knuckle and secure it with a nut tightened to 127 Nm (94 ft. lbs.). Set a cotter pin into place as well. Take out the spring compressor, then install the stabilizer bar link onto the lower suspension arm, but tighten the nut only to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). When the job is complete, fit the support back on the floor.
