2003 Dodge Neon Fuel Injector Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair Fuel Injectors on 2003 Dodge Neon?
A: Start by removing the red slider and pressing the tab on the electrical connector at each fuel injector. Whenever possible, the factory wiring for fuel injection is tagged to identify the injector's position; if it is not, note the wire's place before you remove it. Take the negative terminal off the battery and press the pressure release button on the fuel system. Remove the fuel supply tube from where it attaches to the rail. First, remove any electrical wiring from the fuel injectors and afterward take off the screws that hold the fuel rail in place. Remove the rail from the intake manifold, putting it over the fuel injector openings. Before installing the injector, coat the top O-ring gently with engine oil and clip it onto the fuel rail, using the retaining clip. Place a little clean engine oil on the O-ring at the nozzle end of every fuel injector and then insert the injectors into the openings on the intake manifold, securing them in position. Apply 22.5 ± 3 Nm (200 ± 30 in. lbs.) of tightening to the screws on the fuel rail mounting and link each fuel injector to its designated electrical connector. Come to the final stage by connecting the fuel supply tube to the fuel rail.
