How to Service and Repair Coil Springs in a Front Suspension System on 2003 Dodge Ram 1500?

Before you service or repair the front coil spring, lift your car and rest it on a hydraulic jack placed underneath the axle. Make some alignment marks or write figures on the cam adjusters and axle bracket which will help you during installation. Take off the upper suspension arm and unscrew the bolts from the lower arm. To prepare a 4x4, below the motor/thrust unit, detach the front propeller shaft from the axle by marker. Remove the track bar from the frame rail bracket, the drag link from the pitman arm and separate the stabilizer bar link and shock absorber from the axle. Get the axle down until the top end of the suspension spring is clear and remove the coil spring. Line up the coil spring coil with the axle pad and rise the axle until it fits into the upper mount. Click the stabilizer bar links and the shock absorbers to the axle bracket, followed by connecting the track bar to the frame rail bracket. Fit the upper suspension arm as well as the front propeller shaft on 4x4 models. Link the drag link back to the pitman arm, secure it with a nut to the right specs and install a new cotter pin. Get rid of the supports and let the vehicle down. Finally, screw in all suspension fasteners, including the link to stabilizer bar nut, lower shock bolt, track bar bolt at the axle shaft tube bracket, upper suspension arm nut at the axle bracket, upper suspension nut at the frame bracket, aligning the lower suspension arm reference marks and tightening the cam nut and the lower suspension nut at the frame bracket.
