How to Maintain and Fix Coil Springs on 2002 Dodge Ram 1500?

First, get the vehicle up so the coil spring can be reached, then remove the wheel and tire assembly at the front. Take the vehicle's weight by placing one hand on the bottom arm at the outside and then take off the shock absorber. Attach the Spring Compressor DD-1278 under the lower suspension arm, across the shock absorber coil and through the frame's shock hole. Ensure the bottom of the tool is resting against the lower suspension arm and finally screw in the nut at the shock hole. Tighten the nut holding the spring compressor by hand, then loosen it just a bit to maintain the spring while you pull the lower suspension arm free from the steering knuckle. Remove the stabilizer link and then the nut from the ball joint at the steering knuckle, then use the Ball Joint Remover tool 8677 to take the ball joint out without the upper control arm or steering knuckle support. Separate the lower control arm support, secure the spring compressor tool and perhaps ease up on the pivot bolt to allow the lower ball joint to come down at an angle. With the tension on the tool relaxed, let the lower suspension arm come down before taking out the spring and pad. After applying the isolator to the coil spring at the top, adjust it carefully in the lower suspension arm end. Install Spring Compressor DD-1278 again, tighten the tool nut to squish the coil spring and remove the support connecting the top of the control arm to the steering part. Set the lower ball joint into the steering knuckle, add the retaining nut and tighten it to 81 Nm (60 ft. lbs.). Take away the spring compressor, hold up the lower control arm and insert the shock absorber and stabilizer link again. Take away the lower control arm support, fit the wheel and tire on the studs and lower the vehicle. After that, set the truck on the ground, replace the front and rear control arm pivot bolts if they are not tight and get a wheel alignment done by a professional.
